Nature Based Education
At Camel's Hump Farm Nature Education Center (CHFNEC) we provide programs in the natural world around us on the farm and preserve. We believe that education is more than reading, writing, and arithmetic and that it is best taught through authentic hands-on experience. One of the most important decision a person can make for their child and their future is their education.
Summer Camp
Our week-long, themed camps are designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love for the outdoors in children ages 3 through 14. Each camp offers hands-on activities, guided exploration, and age-appropriate adventures that make learning fun. Whether they’re digging in the dirt, splashing in the creek, building forts, or discovering local wildlife, your child will gain new skills, make new friends, and create memories that last long after summer ends.
With themes changing each week, there’s always something new to explore—perfect for curious minds and active bodies. Let them unplug, unwind, and experience the magic of outdoor play in a safe and supportive environment.
Preschool: Nature Explorers
Children ages 3 to 5 spend their days immersed in hands-on outdoor exploration, guided by caring educators in a safe and nurturing environment. Each day brings new discoveries as they walk through forest trails, observe pond life up close, and explore the fields and gardens of the farm.
They’ll touch, smell, and learn about local plants and trees, dig in the dirt, and interact with both our gentle farm animals and native wildlife. Activities are designed to spark curiosity and wonder while supporting early childhood development through sensory play, nature-based learning, and social interaction.
Whether feeding animals, collecting leaves, or watching tadpoles, these young explorers build confidence, awareness, and a lifelong connection to the natural world.
Public Education Programs at the Farm
We welcome schools, homeschool groups, and families to experience hands-on, nature-based learning through our field trips and community programs. Our 130-acre farm offers forests, fields, trails, ponds, and farm animals—making it the perfect outdoor classroom for learners of all ages.

Field Trips:
Tailored to meet grade-level learning goals, our field trips combine environmental education with active exploration. Students may investigate habitats, meet farm animals, learn about local plants and trees, or engage in nature-based STEM activities. Programs are led by experienced educators and can be customized to meet your group’s needs.
